BURROUGHS ROAD RECREATION GROUND

As you are now all probably aware, the new play equipment and shelter has been installed at Burroughs Road. The Parish Council hopes you will take care of it and that the facilities can be enjoyed by all, without the risk of vandalism. The equipment has been provided with the aid of a grant from Hinckley & Bosworth Borough Council, Parish & Community Initiative Fund.

FERNDALE PARK - YET MORE VANDALISM!

FERNDALE PARK - YET MORE VANDALISM!
Two new basketball rings have had to be installed on the MUGA, since the originals were broken off - this has cost approximately £150.
The safety surfacing under the swings has had to be totally replaced at a further cost of some £1,700. All this has had to come out of the Precept which you all contribute towards. Ferndale Park is an excellent facility for the village and the Parish Council has spent a long time trying to establish a Park which we can all be proud of. However, there seems to be an element who are bent on destroying this facility.
If you see anyone damaging equipment on the Park, please could you either inform the Police or let the Parish Council know.

More and more people are making use of their Community Forum to try and improve local services and raise issues of local concern.
- Residents in Birstall were unhappy that the swimming pool in Longslade Community College was no longer going to be open to the public outside school hours. Discussion at the local Area Forum meeting resulted in the College working directly with local users to find ways the pool can remain open.
- Following the Government’s shortlisting of ‘Pennbury’ as a potential Eco-town, the ‘Have your Say’ meetings in Kibworth and Tugby were the first opportunity for residents in the surrounding area to find out how the District and County Council were planning to respond to this challenge.
- At the Blaby South Community Forum residents and Parish Councillors from Sapcote, Sharnford, Stoney Stanton and surrounding villages expressed their concerns about the volume and speed of Heavy Goods Vehicles travelling through their villages. In response officers promised to look into a range of measures to reduce the impact of traffic and improve road safety in the short term, while explaining how they were looking to provide longer-term solutions.

Community Forums give you the opportunity to discuss local issues with your local Parish, District and County Councillors and representatives from the Police and the Health Service. There are 27 Community Forums across they county. To find out more about forum meetings in your local area, please visit www.leicestershireforums.org

A PLEA TO DOG OWNERS

ATTENTION ALL DOG OWNERS

ARE YOU A RESPONSIBLE DOG OWNER? DO YOU ALLOW YOUR DOG TO FOUL THE FOOTPATHS/PAVEMENTS?

The Parish Council has received numerous complaints about dog waste being left on footpaths around the village. This actually constitutes an offence for which there are heavy financial penalties.
The Council really does not want to take heavy-handed action and asks dog owners if they would please remove their dog’s waste from the public areas in the village.

In the meantime could you please use your own waste bin and not the general rubbish bins around the village?
